Frequently Asked Questions

Before you call or email, please, read these points:

If you do not see something available on the booking calendar for today, then we do NOT have anything available today. However, if you DO see something available on the booking calendar today, then YOU DO need to call and confirm to make sure we can still accommodate a last-minute booking that we may not be prepared for.

1. No, you cannot book shorter sessions. If we did that, then we would have to charge more per hour, and you would pay the same amount for less time. The times you find available here are your options unless you want to pay extra for us to come open up just for you at some other time. You do not have to show up at the session start time. If 7-9pm is all you want, you still have to book 6:30-10:00pm, and you can show up at 7 and leave at 9.

2. If you don’t find the time you want available here, consider renting on a monthly basis for increased access and flexibility in hours: Shared Deals This is a longer-term commitment, but all other hours of every day of the week are made available through this deal, and it is the most affordable way to access our rooms. If you’re new to Bootstrap, you’ll want to make an individual booking through this website first, to try it out. We do not schedule tours. If that sounds fishy to you, see #4.

3. The cost to come open up just for you at some other time, when we would otherwise be closed for individual sessions, is $200 minimum. This is different from #2, which can be as little as $79 per month (which comes out around $6 per hour).

4. If it’s bothering you that our location is not readily available on this website (possibly because you’re ready to just jump in your car and drive down here without an appointment) and the fact that you’re expected to pay upfront for a booking when you don’t know exactly-precisely where it is (it’s next to the West Seattle bridge on the SoDo side), it’s probably because you’re new to Seattle, or new to the music scene here. We have our own way of doing things here, and our facilities are heavily utilized by, literally, hundreds of local musicians every week. So, ask somebody. Or, note that our payment processor is PayPal and you’re fully protected both by them and your own credit/debit company. You’ll be fine, I promise. If this were a scam, I’m sure it would have significantly less snark. Again, directions will be included in your booking confirmation email. We keep the location obfuscated on purpose, because people don’t read and will constantly just show up, only to find it was a wasted trip. We do not give tours to walk-ins. Also, because we want people to actually read things, and when they just have the address, they don’t.

5. The booking calendar is more like a list of available sessions, sorted by date. You make the booking by clicking on one of those list items to expand it, then follow the link within that item. There is no way for you to define your own hours. You can only select from the predefined sessions. (see #1)

6. If you want a sense of how far out in advance you need to book, look a couple weeks out on the calendar and compare that to the previous weeks.

7. The sessions available on the booking calendar are for rehearsal, not studio recording (unless you’re doing your own thing for recording). Send an email if you’re trying to book time for studio recording.

8. If you notice that a certain day never has any time available at all, and that’s the day/night you want, see #2 and #3.
